REVOLUTION COME ALIVE; COMPLETELY DOMINATE MAGIC VALLEY 49-13, AS PETERSON PASSES FOR 305 YARDS

SALT LAKE CITY – 49-13  The highly touted, and equally highly underperforming (thus far), Wasatch Revolution offense, finally exploded, at the expense of the Magic Valley Bulldawgs with almost 500 total net offensive yards and a 28-point first quarter explosion, en route to a 49-13 swamping in Salt Lake City.

Revolution quarterback, Charlie Peterson, finally played as he did all season in 2009, racking up 305 yards passing and 3 touchdowns including over 150 of those yards, and all of the touchdowns, in the first quarter alone.  Peterson shared the wealth between 6 different receivers with Ian Eyre (4 receptions, 83 yards), Toby Christensen (2 receptions 71 yards, touchdown) and David Christensen (3 receptions, 70 yards, 2 touchdowns) leading the way.

Orlando Poloa became the first Revolution player to rush for more than 100 yards in the teams history, rushing for 104 yards on only 10 carries, including the first score of the game, capping the Revolution’s first drive with a 3-yard touchdown to spark off the scoring frenzy.  Peterson would then connect with David Christensen (45, 19 yards) to complete consecutive scoring drives before hitting Toby Christensen on a 62-yard pass play late in the first to grab an early, insurmountable 28-0 lead on the Bulldawgs.

As the Revolution offense settled in and protected the lead, long-time RMFL veteran workhorse, Ryan Lang, would complete 2nd and 3rd quarter drives with touchdown runs and Casey Sutera would return a fumble for 4th quarter score to cap the scoring.

The Bulldawgs, however, were not shut out, getting a big play from all-star, Tierre Johnson, who lead the Bulldawgs with 8-1/2 tackles, an interception, 2 sacks and a fumble recovery that was a 14-point turnaround for the Bulldawgs.  With the Revolution on the verge of another score, already ahead by 35-0, Johnson scooped up a mishandled Revolution ball on the Bulldawgs own 1-yard line and out-raced the Revolution offense for 99-yards and a shutout-avoiding score.  The half would end at 35-6.

The Bulldawgs would get a late touchdown in the 4th quarter as quarterback, Ryan Verway found for a 24-yard score to make the ultimate outcome more palatable.  Overall, however, the top-ranked Revolution defense, held the Bulldawgs to just over 10 total yards of net offense, only -12 net rushing yards as the Bulldawgs simply couldn’t not only maintain a drive, but get a first down until late in the game on a short field.

The Revolution defense was lead by Sean Matagi, Clint Akerman and Tracy Ita.  Ackerman had 4-1/2 tackles, Ita had 4 tackles, however, Matagi not only had 4-1/2 tackles, but was in for 3-1/2 sacks. Overall, the Revolution recorded 6 total sacks and forced 3 turnovers to re-assert themselves as the top defensive team in the RMFL.

The Revolution now face the Utah Wolverines, whom they dominated twice in 2009 and the Bulldawgs are back on the road into Utah to face the Utah Valley Desperados who they were able to pick up a road victory over in 2009.
